This in many cases is the only chance some of these kids have at making something of their lives

This is an outreach program overseen by Deacon Geoffrey Isambo a serving deacon in our Church at Mumias Kenya. It is an outreach that answers to a very desperate need.200 meters from our Church location, there lives a sprawling colony of a community which for want of better description would be termed homeless and destitute. They are largely composed of those who have been displaced by famine in the Northern parts of Kenya ( Turkana). So dire is their situation that they scavenge in dustbins to get sustenance. Now these people despite their squalor have a very high birth rate.these children are brought into the world with no prospects of self improvement at all.

Their parents cannot afford a meal, much less an education which is their only hope if they were to make something of their meager lot.It is this desire to help with basic literacy which convinced deacon Geoffrey that this was a venture worth undertaking. It is also a very welcome Gospel opportunity. It provides the chance to bring the gospel to young minds in their formative years.Scripture says to teach a child in the way he should go and when he grows up he shall not depart from it

We give thanks to God that about a year ago, Joel and Lisa from Australia took up the burden to support the literacy program by offsetting basic costs to help these desperate children get an education. It is written that “He that hath pity upon the poor lendeth unto the LORD; and that which he hath given will he pay him again”.

So we do not despise, and we must not despise charitable outreach to those who need our help
